Armed village militia attacked Danab forces in the central Shabelle region.

More information is coming out about an attack that caused casualties including death and injury in Halay near the El Baraf area of the central Shabelle region.

The attack, which was a real one, was carried out by armed village militias against Danab forces who reportedly left Jowhar town and headed to Hiran region.

There was a short-lived battle between the Danab forces and the militias that carried out the attack, which reportedly resulted in casualties on both sides, although it is not officially known how much damage.

This attack by the armed militia on the armed forces is believed to be based on tribal beliefs, since the confused forces were those who were on leave in the region of Hiran from which they are from.

This step, which is the culminating in the tribal-based conflicts, is coming to an end, with village fighting in recent months that have caused heavy losses in areas on the border of Hiran and the central Shabelle.

Puntland security forces seize explosives, arrest suspect in Bosaso anti-terror operation.

Puntland’s naval forces have apprehended a suspect and confiscated explosives following operations in Bosaso, officials reported. The captured materials included hand grenades linked to recent severe explosions in the city.

The operations targeted individuals believed to be associated with terrorist groups, specifically Al-Shabaab and ISIS-Somalia, which are reported to have hidden bases in the Bari region's mountains. However, the official statement did not clarify the suspect's specific group affiliation.

According to the naval command's statement, the intent behind deploying the explosives was to harm the residents of Bosaso. The confiscated vehicles were reportedly used to transport the grenades involved in the attacks.

Somali government rejects Amnesty International's accusations of killing civilians.

The Somali government on Wednesday rejected an Amnesty International report accusing it of killing more than two dozen civilians in a Turkish drone strike in the Lower Shabelle region.

Deputy Information Minister Abdirahman al-Adalah said the government has no information about civilian casualties in its military operations against al-Shabaab across the country.

"Military operations are continuing throughout the country. What we can confirm is that there have been no civilian casualties in any operation by the army, and that the army maintains a high level of vigilance."

Amnesty International has indicated that 23 civilians, including children and women, were killed in drone strikes last March in the Lower Shabelle region, adding that it has evidence to prove this, and the organization said that the attacks do not differentiate between military targets and the city, which made the Somali government reject the organization's accusation and deny that there were civilian casualties during the military operations launched against Al-Shabaab with the support of some international partners.

Amnesty says 23 civilians were killed in Turkish airstrikes in Somalia.

Amnesty International said 23 civilians were killed in two attacks in Somalia using Bayraktar TB-2 drones made by the Turkish company Baykar, which it said may be war crimes.

Amnesty said the attacks, which took place on 18 March 2024, targeted civilians, mostly children and women, from the marginalized Gorgaarte tribe.

Residents told Amnesty that the strikes were carried out by drones, following a face-to-face battle earlier that day between Al-Shabaab and Somali security forces.

"The Somali and Turkish governments should investigate these deadly attacks as a war crime and stop reckless attacks targeting civilians," said Tigere Chagutah, Amnesty International's Regional Director for East and South Africa.

The international organization said its researchers confirmed that the attacks were carried out with weapons called "MAM-L glide bombs, which were fired from two drones.

Somali government sources told Amnesty that Somali military forces are flying TB-2 during the operations against Al-Shabaab.

Amnesty said on April 5 it sent a letter to the Governments of Somalia and Turkey, to control drones, but it received no response.
