Local forces attack Al-Shabaab in Galgadud province. 

Local forces known as Ma'usli have launched an attack on al-Shabaab, inflicting heavy losses and confiscating many of their weapons, reports from central Galgdud region have suggested.

Local forces reportedly ambushed al-Shabaab fighters, where they fought head-to-head and the fighters were defeated.

There is no official statement from al-Shabaab fighters on the operation, which is part of efforts by the Somali government in cooperation with Somali clan militias to liberate the central regions from al-Shabaab.
