Starting The Trend Of Recognizing The Stars Of The Creator Economy Changing The World.

Trend

Unless you were hiding in a cave the last couple of years, you’ve probably noticed how traditional norms in advertising, marketing and content creation are being challenged and transformed by neo-creators. They utilize a slew of social media and other online channels, offering products, services and content appealing to consumers that yearn for differentiated experiences, values and identity.

A visible acknowledgment of the role this ecosystem is playing in changing the world came recently, when Adobe announced its inaugural “Creators To Watch” list, both celebrating these rising stars and presenting a platform for them to continue their groundbreaking work. I hope this marks the start of a trend. Let’s discuss more about the importance of the creator economy and why more companies should recognize these world-changing stars.

Traditionally, content creation was relegated to large companies because of the need for expensive tools and limited market access. The creative process was restrictive, without room for freedom or experimentation.

But thanks to advancements in technology and a change in the mindset of consumers and businesses, all of that is changing. There are many reasons behind the proliferation of the creator economy, but in my view, two are the most significant

Investment to tackle climate change falls amid global crises.

climate

Cross-border investment in climate change mitigation and adaptation is projected to decline in 2022 against the backdrop of a global investment downturn, according to a new report published by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) on 27 October. Citing a bleak outlook for global foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2022, the report released in the lead-up to the UN climate change conference COP27 shows the number of new investment projects falling across most industries, notably those tackling climate change.

Between January and September 2022, climate mitigation and adaptation sectors had, respectively, 7% and 12% fewer new projects announced, in stark contrast to the previous year’s strong acceleration. Mitigation projects accounted for 94% of international climate investments, whereas adaptation ones continued to lag far behind.

Most mitigation investments are in renewable energy and, to a lesser extent, in various energy efficiency projects. Overall, developed economies made up two thirds of international project finance deals and greenfield investments in renewables. Europe alone accounted for more than half of renewables’ projects, with more than 700 in the first three quarters of 2022. North America and developing Asia attracted about 200 projects each, while Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa had about 150 and 100 respectively.

Engineers Train Members On Mgt Skills.

Engineers .

Consistent with its commitment to broaden and deepen it members in other aspects of life outside engineering profession, the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), has at the weekend trained members on management skills.

This training is part of the NSE Abuja Branch, general meeting which holds at the end of every month. This month topic is; ‘Essential etiquette cooperate:key to polishing the professional edge’ held at the NSE’s headquarters Abuja.

He said, “In every day of our lives we think about engineering and we get to certain age in our lives may be in 60th for those who are working in public offices. May be for those who are civil service, at 60th you will be talking about retirement or even before you will retire, you will not be talking about social life.

“So as a chief engineer, once you get to assistant director, you are no longer talking about designs, but you must have trained people who will be doing designs. So you will be talking about management.

Preprint: COVID-19 shows ‘fingerprint’ of laboratory engineering.

COVID-19

The preprint, released last week, argues that SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, may have originated as a synthetic virus in the lab. It has not yet been peer reviewed or published in a scientific journal.

Like much of U.S. Right to Know’s work, the preprint examines available evidence in order to get a glimpse into what virology experiments might have been undertaken before the pandemic.

Two competing theories about the origin of COVID-19 have taken center stage. One theory holds that the virus spilled over from live mammals sold at a seafood market, while the other posits that the virus was released from a laboratory famous for collecting and studying coronaviruses.

To determine whether SARS-CoV-2 had characteristics of genetic manipulation, the authors looked at the pattern of markers called restriction sites in the SARS-CoV-2 genome. Restriction sites are locations where DNA is cut during genetic engineering.

These restriction sites occur naturally in viruses, but can also be added at key locations in the lab to enable genetic manipulation.

The authors found that two restriction sites commonly used for genetic engineering — BsaI and BsmBI — were evenly spaced along the genome. The longest fragment between these restriction sites is unusually short.

NASA's James Webb Telescope Captures The Iconic "Pillars Of Creation" In Stunning New Image.

NASA

A lush, highly detailed landscape- the iconic "Pillars of Creation" has been caught by NASA's powerful James Webb Telescope. It is a vista of three looming towers made of interstellar dust and gas that at times appear semi-transparent in near-infrared light. The picture highlights the presence and thickness of interstellar dust surrounding these pillars.

The iconic creation is set within the vast Eagle Nebula, which lies 6,500 light-years away. NASA's Hubble Telescope first captured the Pillars of Creation in 1995 and revisited it in 2014. Explaining the wavy lines that look like lava at the edges of some pillars, NASA says that " These are ejections from stars that are still forming within the gas and dust.

Young stars periodically shoot out supersonic jets that collide with clouds of material, like these thick pillars. This sometimes also results in bow shocks, which can form wavy patterns like a boat does as it moves through the water."

Everything To Know About Colleen's Ballet Dancing Career On 'Love Is Blind' Season 3.

dance

Netflix’s hit reality show's Love Is Blind just dropped the first four episodes of its third season, and people are understandably bugging out. The intrigue is endless, from "who gets engaged?" to deep-dives into contestants' IGs, the people can't get enough.

The show, in case you’re not familiar with it, follows 30 singles (this season, in Dallas) as they enter “pods” to talk and fall in love through a wall. People end up falling in love and deciding to get engaged, sight-unseen. The couples then head out into the real world to try to make things work. They’re given a few weeks to decide if they want to actually get married. One season 3 favorite is a 26-year-old ballet dancer, Colleen Reed, who couples up with Matt Bolton, a private charter sales executive.

“I’m a ballet dancer so I’m very flexible and limber,” Colleen tells the men she "meets" in the pods, stirring up quite a lot of intrigue. Contestant Brennon Lemieux responds that “ballet is very physically extensive.

You gotta have your body in good shape.” And Cole Barnett is also very interested in his potential S.O.'s career. Clearly, the people she meets on the show have a lot of questions, so it makes sense that you might, too. It's not every day you meet a real ballerina

The online fast fashion retailer said it is “extremely concerned” by the claims presented in the programme. The investigation by Channel 4, which aired last night, saw an undercover journalist named “Mei” visit factories to reveal the appalling hours and wages of Shein workers. Mei claimed to find evidence of “exploitative working conditions” during her investigation.

The locations of the factories were not revealed in order to protect the undercover reporter and her colleagues. During the programme, it was revealed that there are no defined working hours and that workers are only allowed one day off per month. Some were found to be working 18-hour days.

Workers in the factory received a wage of 3p per item produced. If they made a mistake, they were fined up to three quarters of an average workers daily salary (100 yuan/£12). Channel 4’s reporter also said she found a “culture of design theft” within the fast fashion company. The programme found that Shein “scrapes social media for emerging trends, turning them into designs which they commission in small batches from a network of thousands of factories in Guangzhou, China”.

Shein responded to the documentary’s findings, and said: “We are extremely concerned by the claims presented by Channel 4, which would violate the Code of Conduct agreed to by every Shein supplier.

How a Diabetes Drug Became the Talk of Hollywood, Tech and the Hamptons.

Hollywood

At least once a day, Nancy Rahnama’s clinical nutrition practice in Beverly Hills, Calif., gets a call from a patient looking for a diabetes drug that they’ve heard can help them lose weight fast.

“They specifically say, ‘How much is it to get Ozempic?’” Dr. Rahnama said.

Ozempic, which is taken by injection in the thigh, stomach or arm, was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2017 to help lower blood sugar in people with Type 2 diabetes. One Ozempic injection pen typically lasts about a month and costs about $900 before insurance, though coverage can be hard to come by.

The brand is not approved by the FDA for weight loss. But recently, Ozempic and other drugs of its kind have become the subject of conversations about weight loss, thinness and so-called biohacking in Hollywood, the tech industry and beyond.

Ozempic, made by Novo Nordisk A/S, is one of several brand-name drugs on the market containing an antidiabetic ingredient called semaglutide. Semaglutide stimulates insulin production and also targets areas of the brain that regulate appetite, according to the FDA. The federal agency has approved semaglutide for weight loss under the brand name Wegovy, which Novo Nordisk sells at a higher price than its cousin Ozempic.

Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO who has more than 100 million followers on Twitter, tweeted this month that he was taking Wegovy in combination with fasting to lose weight. Mr. Musk could not be reached for comment.

Give legal rights to animals, trees and rivers, say experts.

animal

Granting legal rights and protections to non-human entities such as animals, trees and rivers is essential if countries are to tackle climate breakdown and biodiversity loss, experts have said. The authors of a report titled Law in the Emerging Bio Age say legal frameworks have a key part to play in governing human interactions with the environment and biotechnology.

Ecuador and Bolivia have already enshrined rights for the natural world, while there is a campaign to make ecocide a prosecutable offence at the international criminal court. The report for the Law Society, the professional body for solicitors in England and Wales, explores how the relationship between humans and mother earth might be recalibrated in the future.

Dr Wendy Schultz, a futurist and report co-author, said: “There is a growing understanding that something very different has to be done if our children are going to have a planet to live on that is in any way pleasant, much less survivable, so this is an expanding trend. Is it happening as fast as any of us would want? Possibly not, which is why it’s important to get the word out.

” Her co-author, Dr Trish O’Flynn, an interdisciplinary researcher who was previously the national lead for civil contingencies at the Local Government Association, said legal frameworks should be “fit for a more than human future” and developments such as genetic modification or engineering. This means covering everything from labradors to lab-grown brain tissue, rivers to robots.

Ranked! The 100 best football players of all time.

football

When a manager has to choose between two excellent players in the same position, the Big Book of Football Cliches says we must always refer to this "selection headache" as a "good problem to have".

Having weeks trying to narrow down every male footballer ever into a list of 100, we at FourFourTwo now realize just what nonsense that is. Selection becomes near-impossible conundrum as you realize just how many outstanding footballers there have been, across continents and across decades.

Frankly, we could do another list of 100 great players not to even make the cut. But in the end, we're had to pick the players we feel were the most influential in their particular era, the most memorable, the players who awed us with their talent and their achievements. In short, the 100 greatest footballers ever. Feel free to let us know your thoughts

The “Hardcore Aww” Online Group Shares Pics Of Wild Animals That Are Just Dangerously Cute.

Dangerous or dangerously adorable? That’s the question that’s been running in our heads non-stop ever since we found out about the existence of the ‘Hardcore AWW’ online community. A subreddit uniting a whopping 333k internet users, r/hardcoreaww invites people to share photos of wild, proud, and

powerful animals that could destroy you in a heartbeat if they wanted to, doing incredibly cute things. The aim of the subreddit isn’t just to melt our hearts with wholesome pics of cute cheetahs, lions, wolves, and magnificent bears, though. The subreddit hopes to raise awareness about these big but lovable ‘hardcore’ animals in the hopes of protecting them and their habitats.

All of the photos shared are taken in either the animals' natural habitats or wildlife sanctuaries, without any malicious interference from human beings. We’ve collected some of the very best pics from r/hardcoreaww to share with you Pandas, so go on—scroll down and check ‘em out. Let us know which of these BIG, fierce, and independent visitors you wouldn't mind running free on your (theoretical) massive plot of land in the wild. Have you ever worked with animal conservation? Do you volunteer with big animals? If so, tell us all about your job in the comments. Obligatory warning about dangerous levels of cuteness ahead. Remember: no petting the cubs (unless you don’t mind sharp nibbles and noms)—stick to upvotes and respectful admiration from a distance.

Meanwhile, read on for Bored Panda's interview with a representative of the Born Free Foundation, an international wildlife charity that protects wild animals in their natural habitat, campaigns against the keeping of wild animals in captivity, and rescues wild animals in need. They explained why it's vital that wild animals not be mistreated in the pursuit of cute photos and that we shouldn't ignore the plight of endangered species that don't look as adorable.

Best of Beauty 2022: Eye Makeup.

Makeup.

In preparation for the Allure Best of Beauty Awards: Eye Makeup, we editors have been swatching and swiping no shortage of formulas, and products that work for both night-out smoky eyes and more demure — but just as interesting — work-day looks. Our intrepid testing may have filled our small

apartment closets and turned our vanities into a mountain of merch, but it led us to some real winners. Take, for instance, Ami Colé's Lash Amplifying Mascara, a first-time champion that's our new-go to for those days when only high-drama will do. Or Hourglass Cosmetics Voyeur Waterproof Gel Eyeliner, which just might be your new, everyday, black eyeliner.

And we're not immune to the Euphoria effect — Donni Davey's Half Magic Face Gems made the cut, because guess what? Sometimes the TikTok hype lives up to the real deal. We picked these products not just because of the final result, but the entire experience, from color selections and range to ease of application and how long it holds up after you post that selfie.

And that's how we define the eyes-have-it factor. Why it won: If we'd had Hourglass Cosmetics Voyeur Waterproof Gel Eyeliner in the early 2000s, our Avril Lavigne-wannabe phase might have lasted more than two weeks. The creamy black glides on with ease and doesn't smudge, feather, or fade.

Retraction undermines the bold claim by physicists who said their material conducted electricity without resistance at 15 ˚C.

Physicist Ranga Dias at the University of Rochester in New York and his collaborators stirred interest but also caution with a 2020 Nature paper1 reporting the creation of a superconductor that worked at an unprecedented temperature of 15 ˚C.  Superconductors can carry large electric currents without producing any waste heat, and are key to many scientific and medical applications; they might also be crucial to future energy-saving technologies. But most superconductors work only at temperatures approaching absolute zero (–273 ˚C). But most superconductors work only at temperatures approaching absolute zero (–273 ˚C). Only in recent years have physicists managed to get some to work above 0 ˚C, using high-pressure anvils. Dias’s team “used a non-standard, user-defined procedure” in subtracting noise from experimental data shown in two figures, according to the retraction notice published2 on 26 September. “The details of the procedure were not specified in the paper and the validity of the background subtraction has subsequently been called into question.” Nature’s editors retracted the study despite the objections of the study authors.

Through a spokesperson, Dias said that he and his colleagues disagree with the retraction and stand by their results. They plan to resubmit the paper to Nature with the raw-data plots of the figures. “The retraction request does not question the observed physical superconductivity state” of the carbon–sulfur–hydrogen material, said the statement. It pointed to an arXiv preprint posted3 in 2021 that responds to researchers’ concerns and presents the raw data, and added that three teams had replicated elements of the results.

These 11 research-backed options might help with your anxiety.

Doctor

Whether you have occasional moments of anxiousness or a clinically diagnosed anxiety disorder, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to treating anxiety. In addition to the traditional therapy and medication, there are natural anxiety remedies available that may help ease certain symptoms.

Natural Remedies for Anxiety From herbal supplements to mindfulness techniques, experts have been researching the role that natural remedies can play in treating anxiety symptoms like tension, worry, and rapid heartbeat.

Chamomile Research suggests that regular use of chamomile is helpful for reducing symptoms of moderate-to-severe generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). People with GAD may worry about everyday things to the degree that the worry interferes with their daily life. But participants of one study had an improvement in their GAD after taking three 500mg capsules of chamomile extract a day for several months.3 The long-term use of high-dose chamomile oral extract used in the study didn't seem to create safety concerns.

While more research may be needed to know the exact quantity that is considered safe, it is generally believed that any amount used in tea, as well as any short-term oral supplementation, is safe.4 Negative side effects like nausea and dizziness are not common. But keep in mind that chamomile may interact with blood-thinning medications (warfarin) or drugs used to prevent organ transplant rejection (cyclosporine). Chamomile could also prompt an allergic reaction in people who are sensitive to pollens like ragweed.4

Bruce Willis’ Rep Refutes Report That He Sold His Digital Likeness to Deepfake Company

Bruce Willis’ team is dismissing the notion that the star sold his digital likeness to a deepfake company. Recent media reports, including one from The Telegraph, suggested that the actor sold his rights to Deepcake to authorize the creation of a “digital twin” of himself to appear in projects
following the announcement that he has stepped away from performing.

Although reports stated that this made Willis the first Hollywood personality to set up this type of deal, his team denies the existence of any such arrangement. In a statement shared to The Hollywood Reporter, Willis’ representative said that he “has no partnership or agreement with this Deepcake company.

A publicist for Deepcake confirms to THR that Willis’ digital-likeness rights cannot be sold, as they are his by default, and that the company’s involvement with the star was set up through his representatives at CAA. Deepcake’s spokesperson explains that their company created his digital twin for 2021 ad campaigns, and that any future use of the likeness would be up to Willis.

Deepcake’s website touts the company’s digital-twin technology as an ability for A-list actors to virtually include their likeness in marketing campaigns without the need to physically appear in front of the camera. The site prominently features quotes attributed to Willis about a 2021 commercial that aired in Russia for mobile phone carrier MegaFon
