In a statement issued on Saturday, the Somali Ministry of Defense expressed its dissatisfaction with the clashes that took place near the airport of the city of Jawhar, the capital of Hirshabelle State, between the presidential guard in the state and the Somali special forces known as “Dneb.”
The Ministry indicated that it shares the pain with the officials and soldiers who were harmed, and added that the Army Command and the Military Court have begun investigating the incident to bring those involved to justice.
On Saturday, the Speaker of the Hirshabelle State Parliament, Luqman Haj Mohamed, accused the Special Forces of launching an attack on his convoy. He indicated that the incident resulted in the injury of some deputies and the death of some security guards. He explained that they were waiting for a response from the Somali federal government.
The clashes that took place near Jawhar Airport were the result of another confrontation that took place in Jawhar between presidential security guards and special forces, which led to the death of a member of those forces.
