The African Union Transitional Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) announced that it has intensified its joint military attacks with Somali security forces against Al-Shabaab fighters.
The mission’s forces commander, General Sam Okeding, said in a press conference: “After the technical pause in the second phase of the withdrawal, it reorganized its forces.”
Okeding praised that the Atmis forces are engaged in joint military operations against Al-Shabaab, in addition to carrying out routine patrols to protect the main supply routes.
General Okiding admitted that the rainfall led to a slight delay in plans to continue efforts aimed at liberating areas under Al-Shabaab control.
