Mogadishu City Club Crowned Somalia Premier League Champions for 2024–25!

Mogadishu is celebrating! Mogadishu City Club (MCC) has officially clinched the 2024–25 Somalia Premier League title, after a thrilling 3-1 win over Raadsan FC at the iconic Mogadishu Stadium! 🙌 With one match still to go, MCC now sits nine points clear at the top, securing the championship in style.

This is MCC’s first title since the 2019–20 season, and their seventh under the current Somali Football Federation era. In total, they've now won 10 national league titles, making them one of the most successful clubs in Somali football history.

 Built for Success

This season, MCC showed impressive form, thanks to strong leadership, smart tactics, and a balanced squad. Players like Ali Omar Ali and Hassan Mohamed Aadan controlled the midfield, while international stars like Stephane Adjimani from Ivory Coast and Ibrahima Bangura from Guinea added technical strength to the defense and midfield.

In attack, the trio of Faysal Hashi, Abdimajid Ibrahim, and Abdirizak Mohamed delivered the goals that powered MCC to the top.

 A Legacy of Pride

Founded in 1963 and formerly known as Banadir Sports Club, MCC is more than just a team. Backed by the Banaadir Regional Administration and playing at the 65,000-seat Mogadishu Stadium, it represents the heart of the Somali capital. The club changed its name to Mogadishu City Club in 2019 to better reflect its deep connection with the city.

“This win comes from the team’s good play, good training, high discipline, and better coordination,” said Abdiaziz Osman Mohamed, Deputy Head of Social Affairs for Banaadir. He congratulated the players, coaches, and fans for their dedication and passion throughout the season

For the Fans

MCC’s official Facebook page posted:

“Thank God. We have finally won the Somalia National League for the 2024/2025 season. Apart from Allah, we thank our supporters who consistently contribute to the team’s success. Vamos MCC.”

For fans like Saadiya Ali, the victory was emotional. “I’ve supported MCC since childhood because my late father worked for the Mogadishu Municipal Council,” she said. “I dedicate the win to him.”

 A League on the Rise

The Somalia Premier League has grown stronger in recent years, with rising competition from teams like Heegan FC, Dekedaha SC, and Elman FC. Despite challenges like limited infrastructure and funding, the league is gaining momentum — and MCC’s title win is a big boost for Somali football!
