Heavy losses were caused by an explosion in the Hawo Abdi area in the south of Mogadishu, where a rebel car exploded with a mine. At least nine civilians were said to have died in the explosion, and a number of others were injured.
Most of the dead bodies and injuries caused by the explosion were brought to Mogadishu, especially to Madina hospital, and the people who went there said that the dead included babies. The car that was hit by the explosion came from Afgoye district in the Lower Shabelle region, it was on its way to Mogadishu, apart from the civilians on board, it was also carrying vegetables.
The mine that hit the car was buried in the middle of the road, this road was recently built, but there is a gap in the middle part between the two lanes of the road. The people who were traveling in the car were mostly children and poor women, the government has not yet spoken about this issue, and the group that did it, which is believed to be Al Shabaab, has remained silent.
The injuries were confirmed to 10 people, and most of them were admitted to Madina and ZamZam hospitals. A mother and a young child were killed. The driver of the car who suffered minor injuries said that there were 18 people in the car, mostly women and children.
