Somalia Humanitarian Forum 2025 Launches in Baidoa with a Call for Unified Action
The Somalia Humanitarian Forum 2025 (CHF 2025) officially opened in Baidoa this week, bringing together national and international stakeholders to address Somalia’s urgent humanitarian challenges. Hosted by the Somali Disaster Management Authority (SoDMA), the forum focuses on building a more effective, inclusive, and coordinated response to the country’s crises.
Key discussion areas include improving coordination between government and humanitarian actors, increasing the efficiency of aid financing, and supporting local leadership in disaster response. Participants are also exploring ways to strengthen resilience in drought- and flood-hit areas and ensure transparent decision-making across all sectors.
SoDMA’s Commissioner emphasized Somalia’s commitment to leading its own humanitarian efforts and aligning foreign support with national strategies. The event is expected to conclude with practical recommendations and action plans to guide humanitarian work in the coming years.
Baidoa’s selection as the host city highlights its central role in humanitarian efforts, especially in dealing with displacement and complex emergencies in the South West State.
