Somalia Intensifies Anti-Terror Operations in Key Regions Amid Strategic Gains

Somalia is witnessing a major escalation in its anti-terror campaign as government forces, in collaboration with local fighters, launch a wave of successful offensives targeting Al-Shabaab and ISIS militants across the country.

In a significant victory, at least 50 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in fierce clashes in rural areas on the border between Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle. The Somali Ministry of Defense reported that militants had attempted to storm a military base, but were repelled by joint forces. Officials confirmed that over 30 bodies were recovered from the battlefield.

Simultaneously, the elite Danab special forces launched an operation in Mahaday, Middle Shabelle, targeting villages known for militant activity. Commander Dahir Hussein "Kabayare" led the operation and engaged local communities, emphasizing cooperation for long-term peace.

In Puntland, regional forces successfully thwarted an ISIS attack on a newly liberated area. Several militants were killed, while others fled. This comes as U.S. AFRICOM, in coordination with Somali authorities, carried out an airstrike targeting ISIS hideouts in Puntland's mountainous region.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud held high-level discussions with AU mission chief Adebayor Kareem to strengthen cooperation in stabilizing the country. The Somali government reaffirmed its dedication to working alongside international allies to root out extremist threats.

These developments signal a new chapter in Somalia's fight against terror. Despite the challenges, the nation's unified military strategy and growing international support are proving to be effective in reclaiming territory and dismantling militant networks.
