Somalia’s Brave Fight Against Terrorism: A New Dawn Rising
In the heart of Somalia, a fierce battle is being waged — not just for territory, but for the very soul of a nation. The Somali National Army (SNA), alongside Puntland’s heroic forces, has intensified operations against the twin threats of Al-Shabaab and ISIS, delivering blow after blow to terrorist networks.
Recent operations have seen stunning victories. In Lower Shabelle, elite Danab Commandos eliminated 21 Al-Shabaab militants, dismantling their hideouts with surgical precision. Meanwhile, in the heart of the volatile Gedo region, government forces repelled a vicious Al-Shabaab attack on Garbaharey, demonstrating their unwavering resilience.
But the war against terrorism is not fought only with guns — it’s fought with intelligence. Former National Security Advisor Abdisacid Muse Ali revealed that international spy agencies have infiltrated Al-Shabaab to gather crucial intelligence, a double-edged sword that, while protective, inadvertently strengthens the enemy’s longevity.
In Puntland’s rugged mountains, a new operation dubbed “Onkod” (Thunder) was launched to root out Al-Shabaab from the Al-Madow mountains, building on previous successful campaigns that crippled ISIS strongholds in the region.
Puntland’s Darawish forces discovered and neutralized hidden landmines and eliminated ISIS operatives attempting to sabotage the safety of local communities.
These victories, however, are just the beginning. The Somali people are urged to stand proudly with their armed forces. Every act of support — every word of encouragement — fuels the spirit of the soldiers risking their lives for a free, peaceful Somalia.
Terrorism thrives on fear. It falls when nations unite.
Today, Somalia is rising, and no force of evil will stop its march towards peace.
