This week, the Somali National Army (SNA) and local Macawisley forces achieved significant victories in their ongoing battle against Al-Shabaab militants in Hirshabelle.
Geelgub: Area Cleared
The week began with a major success in Geelgub, where SNA forces dealt heavy losses to Khawarij militants, paving the way for subsequent operations in the surrounding areas.
Abuuray: Repelling the Terrorist Attack
In the strategic town of Abuuray, heavy clashes erupted after Al-Shabaab militants attempted to seize control. The Somali government forces, supported by local fighters, swiftly retook the town. Despite a counterattack from the terrorists, Somali forces held strong and maintained control.
The operation came at a cost, including the tragic loss of Captain Asad Osman Afrah of the Danab unit, but the Somali military’s determination remains unwavering.
