More Lower Shabelle administration to work on liberating the Al-Shabaab area in Al-Shabaab region

The administration of the Lower Shabelle region in South West State announced that it has prepared local residents, known as the owners of the ministries, to play a major role in the operations against Al-Shabaab, which is expected to begin soon in the region.

Mohamed Ibrahim Barre, governor of the Lower Shabelle region, pointed out that the federal forces have a golden opportunity to work closely with the armed local population.

Berri said that the movement's fighters crossed some parts of the region when they faced strong pressure from other areas, adding that government forces, working with the utmost levels of vigilance and preparedness, prevented them several times.

This comes at a time when Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud yesterday received forces that completed military training in Eritrea. These forces will join the ongoing operations to liberate the country from Al-Shabaab fighters.
