The Spirit of Brotherhood: Somalia Rises to Reclaim Moqokori and Crush Terror
In the heart of Somalia’s Hiiraan region, the dust has not yet settled—but the tide is turning.
This week, hundreds of Somali troops poured into Mahaas district as military operations intensify against the Al-Shabaab terrorist group. These reinforcements—hailing from Guriceel and Matabaan—arrived to bolster the campaign to liberate Moqokori, a town that fell into extremist hands after years under government control.
The message from commanders was clear: this fight is personal, and it’s united by sacrifice.
One officer from the Habargidir clan movingly declared, “We have come here to repay the sacrifice made by the Hawadle in 2008. We are ready to die alongside them—it is a duty of brotherhood.”
This deep sense of solidarity is not just a morale boost—it’s a weapon.
Footage circulating online shows cheering crowds in Mahaas welcoming convoys of Somali National Army vehicles. The people know: these troops are not just soldiers—they are defenders of their homes and futures.
Meanwhile, in the Middle Shabelle region, the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) carried out a series of successful operations that dealt a major blow to Al-Shabaab. At least 13 militants, including senior commanders, were killed. Weapons caches and hideouts were destroyed, and the message to terror groups was loud and clear: Somalia will not tolerate threats.
The upcoming battle for Moqokori is more than a military offensive—it’s a national moment. A test of unity. A declaration of resilience.
And Somalia is ready.
From the Ma’awisley militias to federal forces, from NISA to everyday citizens, the country is rallying to end the shadow of terrorism. The liberation of Moqokori will mark a powerful step toward restoring peace and stability in central Somalia.
