The U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), in collaboration with the Federal Government of Somalia, recently conducted an airstrike targeting ISIS militants approximately 70 kilometers southeast of Bosaso in the Bari region. The strike marks another step in the joint counterterrorism effort between the U.S. and Somali authorities.

According to the Somali National News Agency, the airstrike was part of a broader mission to support the Puntland Security Forces, who are leading the fight against ISIS elements hiding in the region. These militants have been entrenched in remote areas, posing a significant threat to local stability.

While officials have yet to release casualty figures or specific damage details, assessments are ongoing as part of the continued operation.

The Somali government welcomed the support from AFRICOM, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation in defeating terrorism and reinforcing long-term security across the Horn of Africa.

This airstrike reflects a growing commitment to eliminate extremist threats and highlights the strategic partnership between Somalia and its global allies.
