Four members of the same family sentenced to prison for financing terrorism
Mogadishu – The Banadir Regional Court has sentenced Hassan Osman Adam to 13 years in prison and imposed a fine of $20,000 for his involvement in facilitating money laundering activities for Al-Shabaab.
Adnan was convicted of creating multiple bank accounts in the names of his family members and conducting illegal transactions totaling $12,615,109.90 over a period of 4 years.
These fraudulent operations involved an advanced scheme to conceal the origins of funds and direct them to support Al-Shabaab’s terrorist activities.
The court also sentenced the accused's wife, daughter and ex-wife to two years in prison for their involvement in the same scheme.
