Singer Abshir Garane Ahmed, who was jailed for a year and three months by the Somali National Intelligence Service (NISA) and said he had been severely tortured until he confessed to never joining al-Shabaab, has now revealed the man behind the ordeal.

Abshir Gaarane, who was jailed by the Farmajo government for a year and three months, has claimed responsibility for the abduction and torture of Kulane Jiis and Ibrahim Maalim under the command of Fahad Yassin.

He said that on the day of his arrest, until now had been told that his captives were reponsible Kulane Jiis and Ibrahim Maalim, then the commander of Jilicow Cave, and that Farmajo and Fahad Yassin had carried out the plot.

In 2020, NISA posted a video of Abshir Garane confessing to being a member of al-Shabaab for 13 years, but in this interview he described the persecution that led him to claim that he was not al-Shabaab.

Former President Farmajo, who is from the same clan as the artist, said he was aware of his case from beginning to end, and that his relatives had met him at least twice, but that he had not received justice from his government, That was the policy of the government against the opposition.

He called on all government officials led by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, including NISA President Mahad Salad, the mayor of Mogadishu and the parliament, to seek justice for Abshir gaarane.
