African Union opposes ROOBLE's decision to expel Ambassador Madeira and ROOBLE orders not to enter the country

Roble iyo Francisco Madeira

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, has opposed a recent statement from the Office of the Prime Minister of Somalia, expelling Ambassador Francisco Madeira.

Moussa endorsed Farmajo's letter dated 7 April 2022, rejecting Roble's decision, while expressing his commitment to continue working with Ambassador Madeira and Farmajo.

He said the AU was committed to continuing its efforts to support Somalia in restoring lasting peace, security and stability, but that his continued support for Madeira would lead to insecurity and instability in the country.

It was also discovered that Abiy Ahmed was pressuring the African Union to work with Farmajo, who is at loggerheads with Roble, to prevent elections in the country.

Somali Ministry of Internal Security refers to the letter Ref. OPM / 0194/04/2022 issued by the Prime Minister's Office has ordered the Immigration Service to revoke the residence of Ambassador Francisco Madeira and not to issue him with a visa again.

The ministry also instructed the Migration Board to inform all concerned that Ambassador Francisco Madeira could not be extradited as he was not wanted in the country.
