Qatar is a nightmare to Somalia

Qatar's role in Somalia ... between spreading terrorism and hijacking democracy

Qatar plays a major role in controlling the rhythm of political, military and terrorist movements in Somalia by recruiting intelligence agents to spy on the Mogadishu government and monitor its movements in order to conform to the established Doha policy.

From time to time, media leaks appear about the attendance of delegations from Qatar to the Somali government meetings, raising many questions about what the Qatari role is in such meetings and why at this particular time.

The Qatari presence in Somalia has angered many human rights institutions, especially after reports of Qatar’s involvement in terrorist operations there. In mid-September, the African Affairs and Sustainable Development Unit of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights expressed its deep concern about the Qatari intervention. In the Somali internal affairs, which has led to a serious constitutional crisis in the country that may eliminate the desires for institutional reform in the coming years.
