ChatGPT: The Unrivaled AI Champion of the Middle East
According to a recent analysis, ChatGPT has emerged as the undisputed leader in the Middle East’s AI market. With more than 90% market share in countries like Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and the UAE, ChatGPT is even outperforming its global average of 82%.
This dominance comes from OpenAI’s ability to integrate its technology across governments and private sectors, most notably through projects like the UAE’s Stargate initiative with G42, aimed at building advanced data centers.
However, regional competitors are beginning to rise. The UAE has launched Falcon, an open-source and free AI model, while Saudi Arabia is developing Humain, a chatbot designed to excel in Arabic language support. While these efforts are promising, they still have a long way to go before matching ChatGPT’s scale and adoption.
For now, ChatGPT remains the Middle East’s champion, but the coming years may bring stronger competition from locally built AI models tailored to the region’s culture and language.
