A landmine explosion kills one civilian, injures another one in Galgadud region

A landmine explosion killed at least one civilian and injured another in central Somalia on Wednesday, according to the residents.

The explosion occurred in the Gawan area near Eldher district in Somalia's Galgadud region.

The deceased, who has been identified as Aways Ali Guure, also known as Butugey and the injured man were transported to the main hospital in the Elder district for treatment, residents added.

Military officials have suggested that the landmine was planted by al-Shabab militants, though no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack. 

The incident is part of a broader pattern of violence in the region, where insurgents often use explosives to target civilians and military personnel.
