Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, currently in the Middle Shabelle region for the third day, has met with traditional elders and community leaders in the Wargadhi rural area to discuss their role in anti-al-Shabab military operations.

During the meeting, the President emphasized that the federal government has prepared equipment, vehicles, military facilities, and weapons to complete the operation to liberate the country from the al-Shabab group.

"The President of the Republic inspected the military base in this area, which provides the Somali Armed Forces with essential technical needs for the front line of the war and the completion of the mission to liberate the country from al-Shabab terrorists," the government stated.

The President has been on the front lines in the fight against al-Shabab over the past year, during which the army has reclaimed significant territory from the group. However, the federal government did not provide further details about when the operations will restart in Galmudug and Hirshabelle states.
