Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the graduation ceremony of the sixth batch of non-commissioned Somali officers from the Turkish-Somalia military training facility in Mogadishu on Friday.

President Mohamud urged the new officers to fulfill their duties with sincerity and utmost patriotism to liberate the country from al-Shabab militants shortly.

“The greatest gift one can give to their country is their life—the ultimate sacrifice. You are willing to lay down your lives for Somalia and its people. We are at war with an immoral and narrow-minded enemy,” he said.

The President expressed gratitude to the Turkish Government and its President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for their substantial contributions to establishing the Somali Government. He presented certificates and awards to the officers who underwent rigorous training over three years.

The Minister of Defense, Abdikhadir Mohamed Noor, General Ibrahim Sheikh, the Commander of the Armed Forces, other dignitaries, and officers representing various branches of the military, including the navy, land forces, and air forces, also attended the ceremony.

Camp TurkSom, located in Mogadishu's capital, is Türkiye’s largest overseas military base and training facility. It has the capacity to accommodate around 1,500 trainees at a time and has already trained more 5,000 Somali security forces.
