The Somali federal government revealed that the recent operations of its forces against Al-Shabaab in the southern and central regions of the country resulted in the death of 130 Al-Shabaab militants and the confiscation of weapons and military equipment belonging to the movement.
A statement issued by the Somali Ministry of Defense stated that the forces, in cooperation with armed clan militias and international partners, carried out operations in the states of Galmudug, Hirshabelle and Jubbaland.
The statement stressed the continuation of military operations against Al-Shabaab until all Somali territory is liberated from fighters linked to Al-Qaeda.
