On Friday, Action Against Hunger Somalia received a £4 million grant from the British Embassy in Mogadishu to address the harmful effects of the El Niño phenomenon in south-central Somalia.
The six-month grant will provide integrated life-saving emergency support in health, nutrition, water, sanitation, hygiene and protection to approximately one million vulnerable Somalis.
Albert Simenyo, Regional Director of Action Against Hunger, expressed the organization's firm commitment to meeting the urgent needs in south-central Somalia.
He stressed the importance of cooperation to mitigate the devastating effects of the El Niño phenomenon, saying: “We are excited about this partnership and look forward to not only saving lives in the affected area but also creating a support system to enable affected communities to rebuild their societies.”
