The Somali Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Dawud Awis Jama, said that the National Army, in cooperation with the Popular Resistance, was able to kill 3,795 terrorist members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist militia, during the military operations that took place since the beginning of this year.
Jammeh confirmed, in a press conference held yesterday, Saturday, that among those killed in the ranks of the extremists was the leader Abdullah Nazir, the candidate to succeed the current Al-Shabaab leader, Ahmed Diriya Abu Ubaida, and 57 other field commanders.
He pointed out that the army was also able to destroy 73 strongholds used by terrorists, and 68 networks of terrorist cells.
Jammeh said: “The armed forces liberated more than a thousand kilometers of land, which represents 120 regions, cities, and villages, in the states of Hair Shabelle, Galmudug, South West, and Jubaland, which were under the control of the rebels during the past years.”
