The Al-Shabaab group has imposed restrictions on the movement of vehicles and employees of the telecommunications company Hormuud Telecom, according to VOA. A reliable source who declined to be named for security reasons told VOA radio that Al-Shabaab militants have stopped the movement.
Hormuud Communications, the largest telecommunications company, did not comment on the matter. The spokesman of the military forces in Somalia, Brigadier General Abdullahi Ali Aanood, recently said that Al-Shabaab cut off communication and water from the cities when they leave, but he said that these services should be restored immediately in those areas.
One of the experts in Somalia also said that Al-Shabaab is refusing to allow communication to reach the areas they have occupied from the Somali Government and the people of that area, and this is the reason why they are blocking the company's employees and vehicles from traveling to those areas.
