Al-Shabaab militants have this morning launched a major attack on a Puntland security base in Af-urur, Bari region.
The attack began with artillery shelling and was followed by clashes between Puntland forces and the attacking forces, which lasted for hours.
Residents said that when the artillery shells were fired, they were terrified.
Puntland officials say they have killed at least 12 attackers and wounded others.
Al-Shabaab's attack on Puntland could be described as an escalation of the conflict that threatens the security of Farmajo & Fahad Yasin to prevent the election from being completed.
They have carried out various attacks on AMISOM in recent weeks, as well as the attack that killed an amino MP.
Farmajo and Fahad Yassin planned armed attacks by Al Shabaab to destabilize the country and delay elections.
Farmajo does not want to leave Villa Somalia like Siyad Barre until he destroys the country.
