Qatari interventions behind the deterioration of economic and social rights in Somalia


Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights issued an analytical study entitled “Economic and social conditions in Somalia ... a human rights perspective,” which dealt with developments in the current situation in Somalia at the human rights level, with a focus on the causes of deteriorating economic and social rights in the country.

The study was prepared by the Foundation's African Affairs and Sustainable Development Unit; There are successive increases in economic crises for several reasons, and the study also tracked the situation of Somalia in terms of international indicators, especially hunger, education and poverty.

The study found that Qatari interference in the country's affairs at the political and intelligence levels; As well as the deterioration of the security situation in the country due to the Al-Shabaab terrorist movement supported in one way or another by Qatar. Obstructing the roles of international donors to achieve political ambitions; The main reasons behind the deterioration of the economic and social rights situation in the country, which has been suffering for decades from declining development indicators.
