Somalia’s Displaced Families Struggle as Climate Shocks and Conflict Deepen Crisis

Across Somalia, thousands of families are facing a worsening humanitarian crisis as drought, floods, and ongoing insecurity continue to force people from their homes. Many displaced families have sought refuge in overcrowded camps around Mogadishu, where access to food, clean water, healthcare, and shelter remains extremely limited.

For many rural communities, years of failed rains destroyed crops, livestock, and livelihoods. Families that once relied on farming for survival have been left with few options, pushing them to leave their villages in search of safety and assistance in urban areas.

Life in Displacement Camps
