Strengthening Ties: Somalia President Attends Tanzanian Inauguration Ceremony
On Monday, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud attended the inauguration ceremony of President Samia Suluhu Hassan in Dodoma, Tanzania, joining other African heads of state, regional organizations, and invited guests.
During the ceremony, President Mohamud highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and fostering regional cooperation between Somalia and Tanzania. He conveyed his best wishes to President Samia and the Tanzanian people for continued peace, progress, and prosperity.
A day prior, President Mohamud had congratulated President Samia on her re-election, praising her leadership and reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to advancing regional peace and cooperation. “Her victory reflects the trust and confidence of the Tanzanian people. Somalia looks forward to deepening our brotherly ties and advancing regional peace and prosperity,” he stated.
The ceremony follows Tanzania’s recent elections, in which President Samia secured 97.66% of the vote, amid controversy surrounding the disqualification of leading opposition candidates.
During his visit, President Mohamud is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Samia on regional affairs and cooperation and meet with other African leaders attending the inauguration. This visit underscores Somalia’s dedication to strengthening diplomatic ties and promoting regional stability.

Really interesting event. It’s good to see Somalia reaching out and strengthening ties with neighbours.
