The Unseen Frontline: How Somalia Is Silently Crushing Terrorism

While global media headlines often focus on conflicts elsewhere, a remarkable transformation is happening in Somalia. Through the combined efforts of national and community-led forces, terror groups like ISIS and Al-Shabaab are being dismantled—piece by piece.

In the northeastern region of Puntland, ISIS attempted to strike back by launching an attack on Dasaan, a location recently liberated during Operation Lightning. But Puntland’s security forces, armed with solid intelligence and iron resolve, fought back fiercely—killing or scattering the militants before they could even reach the frontline.

Simultaneously, in central Somalia, the Macawiisley forces—grassroots defenders—have risen as a potent force. In the Hiiraan region, they eliminated 10 Al-Shabaab militants near El-Harari and later decimated 25 more across multiple villages. Their actions not only disrupted planned attacks but captured weapons and vital intelligence.

These aren’t isolated wins. They are signs of a growing movement. Somali regions are taking charge of their own security, fueled by local pride and national purpose. The government has acknowledged these victories with open gratitude, and rightly so.

Somalia’s war on terror isn’t just being fought—it’s being won. Through organized strategy, brave fighters, and grassroots unity, the nation is reclaiming its land and future. It’s time for the world to not only notice, but stand with Somalia.
