The commander of the National Security Agency NISA in Gedo region, Abdirahman Abdullahi Aden (Bakal Kooke), was bombed in the village of Suul Alle near Luuq district as confirmed by the regional authorities. Bakal Kooke was said to have been bombed in his car while he was passing through the village of Suul-Alle which is 5 KM from Luuq district.
Bakal was the commander in charge of security in Gedo region for the past two years. He was a powerful man who refused for a long time from the Jubbaland administration to operate in the Gedo region, instead he used to take orders directly from the central government in Mogadishu.
The Al-Shabaab group claimed responsibility for the explosion in a press release, and added that the explosion also injured former NISA commander Baladhaawo and Dollow Abdullahi Kaniini.
