The United States of America has announced that it will evacuate its citizens from Somalia due to the spread of the Corona virus in the country.

A statement of the American embassy in Mogadishu indicated that the American citizens will be evacuated on May 14th through Mogadishu International Airport.

The embassy indicated that it had concluded an agreement with Ethiopian Airlines to operate a special flight to Mogadishu to transport American citizens.

This comes after Turkey evacuated its citizens due to the seriousness of the Corona virus, which has infected nearly 1,000 people so far in Somalia.

In South Africa, the number of confirmed cases increased to 7,220, making it one of the countries most affected by the pandemic, while the number of deaths reached 138, compared to 2746 cases of recovery.

Among the countries of the continent most affected by (Covid-19), after South Africa, Egypt recorded 6813 confirmed injuries, including 436 deaths, 1632 cases of similar recovery, and Algeria with 4,648 confirmed cases, including 465 deaths, and 1998 cases of similar recovery, while the number increased The confirmed cases in Nigeria amounted to 2,802 cases, including 93 deaths, and 417 cases of recovery, according to MAP.

Tunisia recorded 1018 confirmed cases of the virus, including 43 deaths, and 406 cases of recovery.

Other African countries were also affected by the Corona Virus pandemic, such as Côte d'Ivoire (1432 cases, including 17 deaths), Cameroon (2104 cases, including 64 deaths), Niger (755 cases), Burkina Faso (672 cases), and Ghana (2719 cases) , Guinea (1710 cases), Djibouti (1116 cases), Senegal (1271 cases), and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (682 cases).

In addition, 490 confirmed cases were recorded in Kenya, 261 cases in Rwanda, and 580 cases in Mali, while in Ethiopia, 145 cases of HIV were recorded, including 4 deaths and 91 cures.

In Somalia, 756 cases were recorded, including 35 deaths and 61 cures, while Gabon counted 367 cases, including 6 deaths, and 93 cures.

Three European Union Mission in Somalia officials were infected with the Corona virus "Covid-19" and the Union's ambassador to Somalia, Nicholas Berlanga, confirmed that three members of his mission had been confirmed with the disease. According to a local newspaper in Somalia.

"The patients were isolated under medical supervision, and those who contacted them," Berlanga said in a tweet on his account on the social networking site "Twitter." But the ambassador did not mention the specific tasks that they were doing.

This comes at a time when it was confirmed that a Ugandan soldier working for the African Union Mission in Somalia was infected with the Corona virus, where he is being treated and nine soldiers who had contacted him were quarantined.
